Because of this, Palo Alto continues to be one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country, with median home prices averaging around $1,500,000.
Despite the high home prices, Palo Alto remains a very attractive place to live and buy property. There is a lively downtown area with great restaurants, coffee shops and bookstores, lovely tree-lined streets and nearly 25% of the city is devoted to parks. The school system is excellent and nearby Stanford University brings in lots of arts and cultural activities, making it the cultural capital of Santa Clara county as well.
